Hotel Tips
One of the best local secrets is the pedestrian tunnel walk to Perazica Do. To find it, walk down to the main beach and head right towards the Danica hotel; past the hotel, you will see a path leading into rock tunnels. This shaded, scenic walk takes about 20 minutes from the town center and leads you to a wilder beach known for the massive, abandoned Hotel As, which is a fascinating site for urban exploration and photography.
While the food at the hotel is very good, just a short walk on the same road as the bus station there is a restaurant called Pod Lozom where you must have lunch. Popular among locals for its big, shady garden terrace and "roštilj" (grilled meats), this place serves huge portions at prices much lower than those places on the waterfront that cater to tourists.
The hotel takes credit cards. Montenegro is still very much a cash economy for small transactions. All along the promenade, any of the cafes or ice cream places or souvenir shops will only take cash. Since the hotel is next to the supermarket, there is a reliable ATM nearby—stock up on small denominations of Euros there.
Petrovac is a town with critical parking issues. If you are renting a car, inform the hotel reception at the time of booking that you will need a parking space. The hotel garage is small and tight, and street parking in this area is notoriously difficult to find in summer. Just make sure to secure your spot ahead of time; it will save you all the stress when you arrive.
